About Giants

Giant Schnauzers originated in Germany and are a part of the working dog group. They are the biggest of the three schnauzers with a typical life span of 12-15 years. Giant schnauzers are extremely intelligent, energetic, and territorial dogs. At the same time, they are very lovable, loyal, and great with children. They are quick learners and can often pick up on who's a potential threat and who's a friend. Socialization is an important part of training your Giant. They are powerful, strong, and agile and could become dominant if training is not put in place. They love to learn and aim to please. Giant Schnauzers love having a job to do whether it's on a farm, a game of fetch, agility, dock diving, running with you, going on a hike, therapy work, showing, barn hunting, or just about any activity. They will excel if trained correctly. They are a working breed and having a well-trained Giant can be very rewarding. Giants need a lot of exercise whether it's daily walking, playtime, or playing with other dogs in the yard. It's not rare that your Giant will get the zoomies. They have a double coat that requires regular grooming to maintain a nice coat and avoid matting. Their defining eyebrows and trademark beards turn lots of heads. Giant Schnauzers love to love and to be loved; they make a great addition to most families.
